Born 7th March, 1944, during Word War II in Lugano canton Ticino, Southern Switzerland. This region of Switzerland lies on the Southern side of the Alps and the people there speak italian. I studied Electrical Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ( in short ETH) in Zürich (in this part of Switzerland people speak a special kind of German dialect called Swiss-German; however the written language is German). This school is known as the "ETH" which stands for "Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule". I have been employed at the same school since I finished university.
At the beginning I worked on some research projects and was involved in some teaching about Electromagnetic Theory but finally I got more and more involved in the computer technique necessary to simulate electromagnetic fields.First I was consulting about the numerical problems later I took care of the hardware. Later I was responsible for the Computer Infrastructure of our Institute and I was the System Manager of our UNIX-Solaris network.
