From: jolly mon
Subject: Two additions to Seitei Iai (Proposal)
From the HKF Kendo Kenkyu Kai Listserver
Two additional Waza are being proposed to be added to the
Zen Ken Ren Seitei Iai.
The following is the draft, translated by Dr. J. Tokeshi.
----------------
#11 Juipponme Sougiri (proposal)
Scenario: As you are walking forward you sense Sakki
of your opponent(s), seize the opportunity and cut
the opponents left Men diagonally, right shoulder,
left Do and finally cut right hip horizontally.
In 'coupe de grace' cut down from above for final victory.
Movement:
1.Take a step forward with your right foot. As
you take a left step reach the sword with both
hands (right hand to Tsuka and left hand to
Koiguchi)*. As you take another step with your right
foot draw your sword forward. Take the sword above
in Ukenagashi fashion as you bring your
right foot to the left foot. At the same time take
your left hand to the
Tsuka and immediately cut the opponents left Men down
to the level of jaw
as you step in with your right foot (Fumikomi Ashi)*.
2.Take the sword back in the reverse direction in
Furikaburi (above
head)* and cut the opponents right shoulder (near the
neck)* down to
Suigetsu (solar plexus)* as you step in with your
right foot.
3.Take the sword back in the reverse direction in
Furikaburi and cut
opponents left under arm down to the navel as you step
in with your right
foot.
Note: The sword becomes horizontal when it cut down to the
level of navel (parallel to the floor?)*.
4.Take the sword back in the reverse direction in
Furikaburi and
turning the direction of the Kensen forward, take the
sword horizontally
to the level above your left hip. Without hesitation
step in with your
right foot to cut your opponents torso above the hip
from right to left.
5.Without stopping the motion take the sword in
Furikaburi and step
in with your right foot to cut the frontal opponent
from above (down to
navel?)*.
6.From this position take your left hand to left
hip as you perform
Chiburi to the side.
7.Slide the left hand to Koiguchi and perform
Nohtoh in the same
position.
8.Bring the rear foot to the front foot and take
the right hand off
the Tsuka to assume Taitoh stance. Take a step back
from left to return to
the original position.
#12 Junihonme Nukiuchi (proposal)
Scenario: The opponent and you are standing facing each other.
As the opponent suddenly draws his sword to cut you,
you draw your sword above as you step back to dodge his
sword. Immediately cut him from above to win.
Movement:
1.From standing position take both hands to the
sword (right hand to
Tsuka and left hand to Koiguchi)*. Take your left foot
back and draw your
sword above your head as you take your right foot back
as well. At the
same time take your left hand to Tsuka and immediately
step in with your
right foot to cut down your opponent from above (down
to navel?)*.
2.Send the right foot back behind the left foot,
take the left hand
to left hip and perform Chiburi to the side.
3.Slide the left hand to the Koiguchi and perform
Nohtoh.
4.Bring the rear foot to the front foot and take
the right hand off
the Tsuka to assume Taitoh stance. Take one step
forward to return to the
original position.
