Section 12 of Chapter 1:

Refusing uncertainty for lack of courage

As I said before, human kind is afraid of all the unknown, because this could be very dangerous for the own survival.
Unfortunately this apply also to ideas, opinions, theories and so on.
Mankind is prone to accept ANY abstruse theory if it is pushed upon him with enough conviction and force, especially if it is supported by a whole group of people. And, of course, if this theory promise the security that he/she is seeking. In order to escape the crudelty and difficulties of everyday life, some people like to put themselves in the refuge of some belief which promise security and protection.
I would like to mention here Immanuel Kant who wrote:
    Immanuel Kant: What Is Enlightenment?
Enlightenment is man's release from his self-incurred tutelage.
Tutelage is man's inability to make use of his understanding without direction from another.
Self incurred is this tutelage when it's cause lies not in lack of reason but in lack of resolution and courage to use it without direction from another.
'Sapere aude!' "Have courage to use your own reason!" --that is the motto of enlightenment.
Laziness and cowardice are the reasons why so great a portion of mankind, after Nature has long since discharged from external direction, nevertheless remains under lifelong tutelage, and why it is so easy for others to set themselves up as their guardians.
It is so easy not to be of age.
